Africa Region Projects
Africa experiences some of the world's highest rates of deforestation, driven by agricultural expansion, charcoal production, and logging. Its diverse ecosystems, from the Congo Basin rainforest to the Miombo woodlands, are critical global biodiversity reservoirs. Our strategy focuses on ecosystem restoration, combating desertification, and supporting local agroforestry practices.
Tree Allocation: 200 Million
Biome: Afroalpine, Dry Montane Forest
Project Focus: The Green Legacy Amplified - partnering with the national government’s ambitious program to combat land degradation and soil erosion in the highlands, ensuring water security for millions.
Tree Allocation: 150 Million
Biome: Savanna, Coastal Mangroves, Rift Valley
Project Focus: Communities and Carbon - focusing on the Mau Forest Complex for watershed protection and mangrove restoration in the Indian Ocean to support fisheries and protect coastlines.
Tree Allocation: 180 Million
Biome: Tropical Rainforest, Mangroves, Savanna
Project Focus: Restoring the Giant of Africa - high-impact reforestation in the Niger Delta to restore degraded lands and one of the world's largest mangrove systems, crucial for carbon storage.
Tree Allocation: 120 Million
Biome: Unique Dry Deciduous Forest, Spiny Forest
Project Focus: A Biodiversity Ark: Over 80% of its species are endemic. Reforestation is critical to preventing the extinction of lemurs and countless other unique species from their highly
fragmented habitats.
Tree Allocation: 170 Million
Biome: Miombo Woodlands, Coastal Forests
Project Focus: Connecting Corridors: Planting trees to create wildlife corridors between protected areas
like the Selous GameReserve, supporting elephant and lion populations, and
restoring coastal forests.
Tree Allocation: 80 Million
Biome:Albertine Rift Montane Forest
Project Focus: Land of a Thousand Hills: Supporting the country's remarkable commitment to restoration by planting native trees on its mountainous terrain to prevent soil erosion and promote sustainable land
use.
Tree Allocation: 100 Million
Biome: Tropical Rainforest
Project Focus: Cocoa and Canopies: Promoting agroforestry by planting shade trees in cocoa-growing regions to improve yields, farmer livelihoods, and reconnect fragmented
forest reserves.
Tree Allocation: 20 Million
Biome: Tropical Rainforest
Project Focus: Restoring degraded rainforest areas and enhancing biodiversity through sustainable reforestation initiatives.
Tree Allocation: 80 Million
Biome: Tropical Rainforest, Savanna
Project Focus: Improving landscape restoration to enhance water catchment areas and community livelihoods.
Tree Allocation: 70 Million
Biome: Miombo Woodland
Project Focus: Strengthening forest conservation and community-based reforestation programs to combat deforestation.
Tree Allocation: 70 Million
Biome: Miombo Woodland, Savannah
Project Focus: Restoring degraded lands to improve soil fertility and support local agriculture through tree planting.
Tree Allocation: 25 Million
Biome: Coastal Forest, Savannah
Project Focus: Enhancing coastal and inland ecosystems to prevent soil erosion and promote sustainable livelihoods.
Tree Allocation: 25 Million
Biome: Savannah, Floodplain Grasslands
Project Focus: Strengthening natural resources management to combat desertification and support local communities.
Tree Allocation: 15 Million
Biome: Miombo Woodland, Grassland
Project Focus: Promoting sustainable land use and reforestation to restore ecosystems and prevent soil degradation.
Tree Allocation: 15 Million
Biome: Sahel, Dry Savannah
Project Focus: Combating desertification and improving soil fertility through community-driven tree planting programs.
